materials, the brief of the featured kitchen is a modern-day
space of practicality yet still recalls the existing style that reflects the
house era, said designer Morgan Cronin.
"Some of the traditional features needed to be
retained, including the decorative scotia around the edge of the ceiling. This
appears throughout the house," Cronin continued. "The design also
needed to take into account a protruding wall, which is part of a large
fireplace in the room beyond."
"Streamlining the design and functionality of the
entire kitchen was essential," the designer stated. "The existing
kitchen incorporated several different bench heights."
"I wanted to make this feature look deliberate," added
Cronin. "Placing the cooking centre on this wall, and providing
dark-stained oak cabinetry to contrast the lacquered cabinets was a way to
highlight its prominence."
