house, the featured kitchen abandons this theme to catch up to the latest trend
of the design aesthetic.
Per request, architect Michael Tauber had to integrate the
old with new. Hence, he chose an open-plan, single space of a kitchen and
dining room as a huge threshold. "Providing this new informal kitchen and
dining space enhanced the flow between all the floors."
"Parallel walls of walnut cabinetry, and bamboo
flooring help to emphasize the linearity of the space, while making it appear
longer and therefore larger," Tauber added. "The cabinet wall
finishes just below the ceiling line to provide space for cove lighting, which
also makes the space feel taller."
