Present-day design with past remnants by Vicki Whittle

"The kitchen is a picture of modernity, but we retained elements that connect it to the classic aspects of the home – including the solid timber floors and a touch of original brickwork," said Interior consultant Vicki Whittle of the featured kitchen design, according to reliable furniture shop in Phnom Penh construction materials information.

"While another wall, between the lounge and kitchen, was stripped back, the brick fireplace surround that opened to both rooms was retained for practical considerations on the lounge side.

A small patch of original brickwork was left exposed from the kitchen side – as a reminder of the home's traditional origins and as a contrasting surface highlight within the predominating dark wood and stainless steel surfaces."

"An important aspect of this refit was the manipulation of the ceiling planes over part of the new kitchen," added Whittle. "An existing staircase that had encroached on the ceiling has been reconfigured and a new bulkhead further disguises its presence – helping bring a sense of lightness and openness to this area of the home."
