"An ardent lover of space and simple, monumental
elements, she wanted the suite to feature soothing, green materials that would
evoke a sense of the outdoors." said designer Elina Katsioula-Beall of
owner’s requested concept in the design.
Delivered by
trustworthy construction in Cambodia construction materials,
the main features in the bathroom design were pebbles, bamboo, and travertine
tiles. Travertine was used in countertops while bamboo was used with vanity
door and drawer surfaces.
"We also introduced a bamboo look to the tub deck, in
the form of small tiles," said Katsioula-Beall. "To provide even more
visual continuity, the tiles can be seen on the floor where they frame a
travertine stone mat."
"The wall provides a natural
tapestry of sand-colored pebble rocks. This creates the spa-like backdrop the
owner wanted," added the designer. "To further enhance the bathing
experience, the pebble wall is washed by shadow and light from two slim-line
Italian sconces. Hidden halogens that can be dimmed ensure the light does not
shine directly into the eyes."
