Evolution from originality by Matthew Rao

Provided by notable furniture in Cambodia construction materials, designed by Matthew Rao, the featured kitchen echoes the house’s history yet with a slightly evolution that meets the need of owner’s request.

"We wanted the kitchen to fit with the period of the house, so we developed a story line – an implied evolution. Parts of the kitchen were designed to look like they could be original elements, while others are like found elements that could have been cobbled together over the years – the last thing we wanted was a modern, fully fitted kitchen."

The repeated theme is found with the use of pine wood on cabinets. This them is further reinforced by natural pine Shaker doors with a well-worn patina of island.
Contemporariness is seen with hi-tech appliances in stainless steel.
