As successful furniture
shop in Cambodia construction
materials informed, with many material palettes to choose
from in term of designing a room, architect Jay Hargrave and designer Joy Kling decided that
the featured bathroom should go with raw materials, specifically concrete.
From the external wall to wet area floor, concrete was used
as the main material. The most notable concrete work in the bathroom, however,
was the bathtub.
"The tub, which was poured on site, is sympathetic to
the raw materials in the suite," said the designer. "It sits within a
natural draining bed of river rocks that give the bathroom a very Zen-like
feel."
Nonetheless, the space was created with other minor yet
efficient material palette as well to avoid excessive concrete vibe in the
room.
"Lining the entire room in concrete could have been
overwhelming," stated Hargrave. "The glass tiles introduce a cool,
refreshing, reflective material to the palette. Similar tiles form a band
across the wall in the shower room."
