As successful furniture
shop in Cambodia construction
materials informed, with its previous dark and dull
appearance, owners of the featured bathroom requested designer Christopher Grubb and Jamie Rueb to
remodel it with a more soft and contemporary look.
Hence, the duo decided to go for a natural light absorption
with a new and extra window above the vanity and shower room.
"In the shower, the shape of the window and the ribbed
glass add a vertical element that creates a nice juxtaposition with the
horizontal banding of the new shower tiles," said Grubb.
"We took our cue from the original tiles, which had a
pleasing linear look although they were too dark," Grubb added. "With
tiles on the ceiling as well, the shower feels very cocoon like, and has a real
sense of intimacy. In a way, the new shower pays homage to what was there before."
"We kept the vanity crisp and simple, and cantilevered
the unit so it appears to float above the floor."
