Having business in the
country that rich with traditional and cultural bequest, homeowner of the
featured powder room requested designer Elina Katsioula-Beall to design the house according to the
Japanese style.

materials informed, the designer used natural surfaces as the
basic approach for the owners’ petition.
"We used a merchant's ledger chest as the vanity, with
a granite countertop, a solid-rock basin and a raised pebble backsplash. The
pebbles are repeated in a niche at the rear of the space, drawing the two areas
together."
"Opposite the vanity, a backlit shoji screen implies a
window behind, although in fact, there are none."
"The light-colored maple floors and walls give this
small area a roomy feel."
