located near a beautiful beach, the featured kitchen and entire house are
refurbished to complement the house era and its surrounding outlook.
"We reworked the entire area – repurposing a laundry
behind the kitchen as a large walk-in pantry. The new butler's pantry was built
up to the same level as the kitchen landing – and a servery now provides easy
access to the kitchen and dining rooms."
"I designed the cabinets with drawers, as these
maximized the storage space," said James. "The paneling reflects the
Hamptons influence, as do the crisscrossed elements on the glass doors, and the
muted green-grey color of the walls. Marble benches and splashbacks add a
lavish note."
"Flooring in Tasmanian oak and bluegum contributes a
touch of Australia, and I selected a solid butcher's block made from Australian
hardwoods. For balance, we also designed a sculptural rangehood in Queensland
cedar, and added a feature panel on the opposite wall."
"The old kitchen had been out
of place in this plush beachside residence – the new design melds with its
surroundings," added James.
