Delivered by
trustworthy construction in Cambodia construction materials,
designed by architect Mark Hutker, the presented kitchen achieves a very
obvious in industrial and traditional look.
"The homeowner was
advised by friends in the hospitality industry to have open upper cabinets for
easy access while cooking. To achieve this and also allow natural light and
ventilation into the room, open shelves were installed in front of the
windows," said Hutker.
"I knew this
kitchen was going to be well used, so Corian was chosen as a hardy material for
the countertop. A commercial cooktop was installed, with a remote fan to reduce
noise," stated Hutker.
"The tradition of
pie safes is strong in New England. The use of stainless steel screens is in
reference to this practice – but the metal also helps tie in visually with the
stainless steel appliances, which might otherwise have looked out of place in
this cheerful, country-style kitchen."
