Rural charm by Sheldon Tager

As successful furniture shop in Cambodia construction materials informed, a rustic and antique ambience sometimes does not require the use of heavy woodwork or dark colors with tonal expressions. All it takes is to make the space appears busy as the featured kitchen illustrates.

"The original kitchen was intended for servants to cook in, rather than being a social, family space," designer Sheldon Tager said. "The owners wanted to keep the farmhouse aesthetic, so we used refurbished antiques and other furnishings that reflect this style."

Other key features that exude a rustic ambience include walls lined in tongue-and-groove planks, open-air shelving which gives a sense of busyness and houses antique dishware, an English dresser forming the kitchen’s island, and antique stove.
