materials informed, inspired by the richness in Japanese
culture after having worked there for quite some time, homeowner of the
featured bathroom asked designer Bill Simone to adopt the traditional bathing ritual that the
so-called Japanese appreciates.
"Not surprisingly, the new bathroom has a distinct
Japanese influence, while also being much more modern," Simone says.
"We shipped a true soaking tub from Japan to create an authentic wet room.
The entire bathroom was designed to get wet – the walls, floor, tub."
Natural, textural features in the countrified earth slate
walls and golden green honed slate flooring were input in the designed. Simone
introduced a Japanese aesthetics of woodwork incorporated in the renovation as
well.
