materials, sometimes, even the small site can provide the
functionality and aesthetic like those of a lager one.
The pictured kitchen is
a case in point where architect
Tim Rempel choose a pared-back, clutter-free design to suite its open-plan
layout with some complementary bold aesthetics.
"The kitchen needed to include the essentials without
feeling restricted. I pared down the design to basic shapes to eliminate
clutter," he said. "Using horizontal lines made the whole area feel
more expansive and open."
The architect avoid the use of any dark surface to lessen
the confined feel and set up lighting system to help make the space airier. The
skylight helps bring natural light to the space.
Stainless steel island with granite countertop also
contribute the lighthearted sensation the architect seek.
To downplay a clinical and industrial feel, colorful canvas
and pendant lights of the adjacent dining area were specified.
