Present time by Jacqueline Thelen

Provided by notable furniture in Cambodia construction materials, sometimes it does not require a total destruction of the old space to have a better design. With a little creativity, an existing footprint can bring out the best contemporary sensibility as the above kitchen illustrates.

This modern space with a cozy ambience was part of a 1970s home and derived from an outdated model.

"We raised the old kitchen ceiling and removed the wall between the kitchen and the dining room. We added a window to bring in additional light, as well as views of the woods outside," designer Jacqueline Thelen said.

"I gave the tumbled marble tiles of the backsplash a modern treatment, adding smaller gold-colored tiles that complement the copper flecks of the countertops."

The new kitchen resulted in a more storage space and a transitional appearance.
