"Limiting the elements that needed to be changed was a key factor," she says.

Schnier opted a fast-growing bamboo instead of gradual-growing wood to make the new cabinet which contribute to the green setting. "It was also a way to express the naturalness of the material," she said. "On the bank of wall cabinets we added inset panels of Lumicor, another green material that incorporates sea grass."

Energy-efficiency and recycled materials are another key factor in the kitchen design for obtaining an eco-friendly setting.
