As successful furniture
shop in Cambodia construction
materials informed, designer Jos van Bree was asked to make the used-to-be small kitchen
become a larger one with high-end appliances and present-day presence.
"We were able to remove a wall between the kitchen and
the third bedroom," said van Bree. "Although this sacrificed a
bedroom, it gave us the space to create something a little different, which was
a key part of the owner's brief."
After achieving a suitable scale of the space, optimization
follows. The designer decided to combine a dining table and island as one
piece. "This is a very practical solution – one end of the island can seat
four to five people. It also allows for easy socializing while meals are
prepared."
"We also added a narrow aluminum strip, creating a
negative detail between the cabinets," added van Bree. "The doors and
drawers sit much closer together than traditional cabinetry designs, which
allows for more storage space."
