Harmonizing the two worlds by Gregory Thomas

As successful furniture shop in Cambodia construction materials informed, architect Gregory Thomas was commissioned to create a space that incorporate the retro footprint of the previous design to and the modern lifestyle that owners seek for the pictured kitchen.

"The owners already had '30s-style dining chairs, which helped to determine the look," he stated. "This was conceived as a pre-World War II design from the late '30s, with modern updates. For example, we chose flush-inset, face-frame cabinets with flat-panel doors that reinforce the historic connection. The hardware on the lower cabinets is also evocative of the era."

"The off-white subway tiles and Carrara marble counters contribute to the austere, yet clean period look," said Thomas.
Other contributions to the bygone period includes the original brick chimney, cotta floor tiles, Mounted sconces and an acorn pendant, and pendant school-house fixtures.
Contemporary protrudes and collaborates well to the space with the use of modern appliances and user-friendly tone of blue band on the wall.
