"One of the owners has a Japanese-Hawaiian heritage and
the couple were interested in seeing this reflected in the design," said
architect Lane Williams of the presented pool house’s renovation project.
"The concept of the traditional Japanese teahouse became a metaphor for
the project. This was not a literal translation, but a way of developing the
design."
Provided by notable

materials, Williams
then opted a large,
steel-framed pavilion featuring translucent fibreglass panels which resembles
traditional shoji sliding screens from Japan to the space.
"These screens are fixed, but
arranged as though they have already been slid apart from one another,"
the architect says. "They serve to screen a neighboring property and the
back-of-house functions, and they also open up to the pool."
The space consist of a simple yet modern food counter,
relaxing seats with a small table, and an off-screen toilet.
