materials, having worked closely with designers Stephen Lanak and Roger Zierman,
owner of the featured kitchen decided that her kitchen would be entirely
accentuate the one piece that she fell in love with – The zebrano veneer.
"Everything else, the
countertops, the remaining cabinetry and the flooring were chosen to work
around the zebrano," stated Lanak. "Even once the project was
finished, we were asked to install yet more of the veneer on a couple of side
walls."
"The island is really the focal point of the kitchen," said Zierman. "As well as being a major design feature, it also houses the cooking centers, refrigerator drawers and a sink for washing hands.
"Also, the raised central portion was designed to
display pieces from the client's extensive sculpture collection, and as a
device to incorporate outlets so as to not mar the surface of the book-matched
zebrano veneer."
