designer Elina
Katsioula-Beall was commissioned to renovate the presented kitchen to become a
modern, relaxing space for the whole family to gather there.
"One of the owners wanted a place in the kitchen where
he could enjoy breakfast while watching the news on television." said
designer Elina Katsioula-Beall. "We designed the island to be the
centerpiece of the kitchen. From the counter, the owner can see the kitchen,
the rest of the island and the TV built into the wall cabinets,"
The space features maple-finished cabinetry subdued by mappa
burl veneer of the counter that gives a sense of contemporariness. Other modern
features include black-green granite countertops, black lacquered toekicks, and
tiled backsplashes.
