As successful furniture
shop in Cambodia construction
materials informed, designed by Jean-Claude Desjardins and Tricia
Bayer, the above kitchen is authentic to the décor of the house in a classical
European design.
"The kitchen reflects a European sensibility. Corbels
on the island bring to mind British styling, while the turned legs on each side
of the oven and the cabinetry glazing are reminiscent of French kitchens,"
said Desjardins.
"The custom hood is a focus of the room and is set
directly opposite the living room fireplace – its bronze finish picks up the
many other instances of this metal elsewhere in the home," stated Tricia
Bayer.
"Ironically, modern design has
played a large part in the old-world aesthetic," added Desjardins.
"Joinery advances mean modern conveniences can be kept out of sight – one
cabinet leg even pulls out to reveal a hidden spice rack."
