materials, designer Elaine Hall Murray was asked to redesign the featured
kitchen in a more rustic ambience and reflects its surrounding of a typical
French countryside.
"The kitchen area is contained within a galley format,
with the range in pride of place as a separate entity. All other fixtures have
been positioned along the rear wall, or can be found in the adjacent butler's
pantry."
"All of the cabinets – with the exception of the
integrated refrigerator and microwave – are antiques. This made for a lengthy
process, as the pieces were sourced individually. It also called for a complex
solution to incorporate the variously sized pieces into a coherent design
scheme," said Murray.
"The clients were delighted to take their time and
enjoy the process in order to create the right environment, rather than
sacrifice perfection for the sake of a quick and easy solution."
